Must Love Crosswords
Ready for a deep post about love and relationships? To dive into the hard questions? This is not that post…or is it? See what I did there? Now you’re intrigued to read the rest right? Too many questions? Ok, I'm done.
I’m not sure what drew us to the back page of the Austin Chronicle that fateful summer day. Was it to see the ad for “Badass Massages by Eric”? Possibly. Even stronger than that though, was the pull of the crossword puzzle. For whatever reason, (honestly there is no real reason, I’ve checked my sources), Lauren and I started filling in the crossword. When the black ink of our pen met the crisp grey newspaper it changed everything.
Columbus travels to the New World. Edison creates the light bulb. Jobs ate an apple. Lauren and Kyle discover the crossword puzzle.
It’s funny how something so off our radar could in an instant turn into one of our “things”. To be honest, I’m not even very good at them. I’m so thankful Barnes & Nobel has an “Easy Crosswords” section, or I’d be out on the streets doing Word Searches. Bleh. Lucky for me, Lauren is willing to stoop to my easy crossword level, when she was obviously capable of starting at the intermediate level. If that’s not love, I don’t know what is.
Like I said in the beginning, there's no deep meaning for crosswords and how they relate to our relationship. This is just a blatant promotion of how much I love crosswords, and how much I love Lauren. Not necessarily in that order.
